Nature abhors a bully, so
the gal calls her cop father.
Doors break down, a crowd
in the parlor, evidence taken.
Yellowed clippings on the wall
tell it over and over, but there
is a corpus delicti.

The beautiful room is empty
but it cannot stand.
No cop wants his daughter
to know the bully eludes him
as if- a fugitive might decide
on which side of a girl's
walled heart to hide.

The bully runs out the back
when the law blusters in.
Follow their slander downward,
go past Father's useless notes.
To the second threshold
and outside, where a geometry
of light through the trees
joins you to me.

Nature abhors a bully, it says,
a gal calls for her father.
The doors are broken down,
the town is crowded
in the parlor, and the evidence.

Yellowed clippings on the wall
tell it over and over
but for the corpus delict.
the beautiful room cannot stand.

No man tells his daughter
that the bully has eluded him,

the beautiful room could not stand.

The bully runs out the back
when the law blusters in,

scatters at the threshold.
Out back, a geometry of light
spreads the lovers

No man will tell his daughter
the bully has eluded him.
Just as though a fugitive knows
on which side of his girl's
walled heart he might hide.

Out the back they run
when the Law blusters in,
there Father's papers scatter
where geometries of light
take the lovers up into the trees.
